Taxonomy
Cypraea newboldi was named by Forbes (1846). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Near Andoor, which is in a Turonian/Santonian marine sandstone in India.

It was recombined as Cypraea (Luponia) newboldi by Stolizcka (1867); it was recombined as Eocypraea newboldi by Groves (1990).

Groves 1990The new species [Eocypraea (Eocypraea) louellae] is most similar to Eocypraea newboldi (FORBES, 1846:134, pi. 12, fig. 21) from Upper Cretaceous (Turonian through Santonian), Trichinopoly Group, southern India, but differs from the latter by its highly inflated posterior columella, coarser denticulation, less sinuous aperture, and larger size.
