Taxonomy
Ovaloolithus sangpingensis was named by Fang (1998). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Houzhuang village, Xiaguan Basin (IVPP), which is in a Turonian/Campanian terrestrial mudstone/conglomerate in the Majiacun Formation of China.
