Utahconus was named by Miller (1980) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem-l O Trem-u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Protopanderodontidae by Sweet (1988); to Oneotodontidae by Pyle and Barnes (2002); and to Conodontophorida by Sepkoski (2002).
