Canadapteraspis was named by Dineley and Loeffler (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi Sepkoski's reference number: 1100]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Pteraspidomorphes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Protopteraspididae by Blieck (1984) and Randle and Sansom (2017).
