Taxonomy
Lanarkia was named by Traquair (1898) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-u]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Lanarkiidae.

It was assigned to Thelodontidae by Jordan (1963); to Furcacaudiformes by Wilson and Märss (2009); and to Lanarkiidae by van der Laan (2019).
