Lepidaspis was named by Dineley and Loeffler (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi Sepkoski's reference number: 1100].

It was assigned to Corvaspididae by Blieck et al. (2002); to Pteraspidomorphi by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lepidaspididae by Van Der Laan (2019).
