Taxonomy
Cypraea carolinensis floridana was named by Mansfield (1931).

It was corrected as Cypraea carolinensis floridanus by Ingram (1942); it was recombined as Siphocypraea (Siphocypraea) carolinensis floridana by Olsson and Petit (1964); it was recombined as Siphocypraea floridana by Petuch (1988); it was recombined as Akleistostoma floridana by Petuch and Roberts (2007).
