Loxacypraea apalachicolae
Taxonomy
Cypraea apalachicolae was named by Ingram (1948). Its type specimen is CAS 8045, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS Loc. 578. Alum Bluff, Apalachicola River left bank, 3.5 miles N. of Bristow, which is in a Burdigalian marine marl in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
It was synonymized subjectively with Cypraeorbis hertleini by Dolin (1991); it was recombined as Loxacypraea apalachicolae by Petuch (2003).
