Cypraea bensoni was named by Finlay (1927). Its type specimen is RGM 10078, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Barycypraea bensoni by Schilder (1941).

Synonyms
  • Cypraea ovata was named by Martin (1879) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; Indonesia.]. Its type specimen is RGM 10078, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

    It was replaced with Cypraea bensoni by Finlay (1927).
  • Cypraea burialensis was named by Martin (1928). Its type specimen is RGM 10078, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Barycypraea bensoni by Schilder (1941).
