Taxonomy
Cypraea rhinoceros was named by Souverbi (1865). It is extant. It is the type species of Blasicrura, Blasicrura (Blasicrura).
It was recombined as Blasicrura (Blasicrura) rhinoceros by Schilder (1941); it was recombined as Bistolida (Blasicrura) rhinoceros by Cate (1967); it was recombined as Blasicrura rhinoceros by Iredale (1934) and Meyer (2003).
