Bobbodus was named by Zangerl (1981) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u C Step-u Sepkoski's reference number: 451]. It is not extant. Its type is Bobbodus schaefferi.
It was assigned to Eugeneodontida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eugeneodontidae by Zangerl (1981), Schultze and West (1996), Nelson (2006), Ginter et al. (2010).
