Taxonomy
Lemurchelys diasphax was named by Gaffney et al. (2011). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wadi Moghra MGL-16, which is in a Miocene terrestrial horizon in the Moghara Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Lemurchelys.
