Eugeneodus was named by Zangerl (1981) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u Sepkoski's reference number: 451]. It is not extant. Its type is Eugeneodus richardsoni.
It was assigned to Caseodontidae by Zangerl (1981); to Eugeneodontida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eugeneodontidae by Ginter et al. (2010).
