Taxonomy
Cypraea limburgensis was named by Kaunhowen (1898). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Maastricht area, Nekum Member, which is in a Maastrichtian shallow subtidal limestone in the Maastricht Formation of the Netherlands.

It was recombined as Bernaya (Protocypraea) limburgensis by Schilder (1927); it was recombined as Palaeocypraea limburgensis by Schilder (1928); it was recombined as Palaeocypraea (Palaeocypraea) limburgensis by Schilder (1941), Groves (1994).
