Taxonomy
Palemydops rubidgeae was named by Broom (1937). Its type specimen is RC No. 8, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wellwood (Cistecephalus Assemblage Zone), which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial mudstone in the Balfour Formation of South Africa.
