Taxonomy
Nebrius was named by Rüppell (1837) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani R Sepkoski's reference number: 884]. It is extant. Its type is Nebrius concolor.
It was assigned to Ginglystomidae by Jordan (1963); to Orectolobiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ginglymostomatidae by Noubhani and Cappetta (1997), Tabuce et al. (2005), Cicimurri and Knight (2009), Case et al. (2015), Ebersole et al. (2019), Cantalice et al. (2019), Adnet et al. (2020), Cicimurri et al. (2025).
It was assigned to Ginglystomidae by Jordan (1963); to Orectolobiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ginglymostomatidae by Noubhani and Cappetta (1997), Tabuce et al.
