Taxonomy
Heterosminthus mongoliensis was named by Zazhigin and Lopatin (2000). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ulaan Tologoi, UTO-A/5, which is in a Miocene fluvial sandstone in the Loh Formation of Mongolia.
