Taxonomy
Paratriakis was named by Herman (1977) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo K Camp Sepkoski's reference number: 525,863,884]. Its type is Paratriakis bettrechiensis.

It was assigned to Carcharhiniformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Triakidae by Cappetta and Odin (2001), Underwood and Ward (2008), Guinot et al. (2013).
