It was assigned to Rajidae by Jaekel (1894), Eastman (1904); to Rhinobatidae by Casier (1946); to Galeomorphii by Sepkoski (2002); to Plathyrhinidae by Carnevale et al. (2014); and to Platyrhinidae by Jordan (1963), Cappetta (1987), Marramà et al. (2018).
