Taxonomy
Hemiarges extremus was named by Owen (1986). Its type specimen is HM A16153-4, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a mold. Its type locality is H1, which is in a Hirnantian marine sandstone in the High Mains Formation of the United Kingdom.
