It was synonymized subjectively with Anthracocaridae by Schram et al. (1986).

1986). Rostrum prominent subtriangular, subacute, with wide base.
Chelipeds symmetrical, large, robust, with distinct ischium present. Male dikonophoric. Telson short, width more than four times length, with a pair of large anal flaps. Abdominal pleura well- developed, projecting ventrolaterally as narrow, blunt processes. Pleonite-6 incompletely vaulted, lateral margins becoming flattened posteriorly. Uropods inserted posterolateral margin, only single multiarticulate ramus being recognized.
