Brachyrhizodus

Chondrichthyes - Myliobatiformes - Myliobatidae

Discussion

The type specimen of Brachyrhizodus Romer 1942, B. wichataensis Romer 1942, (which was originally found in Carboniferous-Permian sediments and provisionally identified as a petalodont) was a reworked Cretaceous tooth element. The duplicate listing of a "Permian petalodont" Brachyrhizodus in Sepkoski's Genus Compendium did not recognize the latter awareness that the specimen was reworked and genus is restricted to the Cretaceous.
