Taxonomy
Cantabrotherium casanovasae was named by Cuesta (1993). Its type specimen is 9.229, a maxilla (Partial left maxilla), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mazaterón, which is in a Bartonian lacustrine marl/sandstone in the Mazaterón Formation of Spain.
