Taxonomy
Knightites (Retispira) hanzawai was named by Murata (1971). Its type specimen is IGPS 91391, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Motoiwazawa Valley, southwest of Kawaguchi, Sumita-cho, Kesen-gun, which is in an Artinskian carbonate sandstone/limestone in the Sakamotozawa Formation of Japan.
