Taxonomy
Vetusspalax progressus was named by de Bruijn et al. (2013). Its type specimen is BAN181, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Turija open-pit mine, which is in a MP 30 terrestrial claystone in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the type species of Vetusspalax.
