Dvinosaurus egregius was named by Shishkin (1968). Its type specimen is PIN 1100/23, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vyazniki Localities, PIN 1100, which is in a Vyatkian floodplain sandstone/claystone in the Russian Federation.
