Taxonomy
Plesispermophilus macrodon was named by Schmidt-Kittler and Vianey-Liaud (1979). Its type specimen is BSP 1952 II-3421, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gaimersheim, which is in a MP 28 fissure fill horizon in Germany.
