Trochonema shallochense was named by Lamont (1946). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 4. Shalloch Mill, Whitehouse Bay, Girvan, which is in a Pusgillian carbonate limestone in the Mill Formation of the United Kingdom.
