Eubelum rusingaense was named by Morris (1979). Its type specimen is BMNH In.61025 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rusinga Island R.1a, which is in a Burdigalian dry floodplain horizon in the Hiwegi Formation of Kenya.
