Taxonomy
Prosopon laeve was named by von Meyer (1857). It is not extant. It is the type species of Laeviprosopon.

It was recombined as Laeviprosopon laeve by Patrulius (1966), Collins (1985), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Schweitzer et al. (2012).
