Stromatomorpha was named by Frech (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l J Tith Sepkoski's reference number: 2,920]. It is not extant. Its type is Stromatomorpha stylifera.
It was assigned to Spongiomorphidae by Frech (1890), Stanley (1986); and to Anthaspidellidae by Senowbari-Daryan and Stanley (2009).
