Taxonomy
Chalcidichthys malacopterygius was named by David (1943). Its type specimen is CIT 10228, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sepulveda Boulevard tunnel, south entrance, which is in a Miocene marine sandstone in the Modelo Formation of California.
