Taxonomy
Proischyromys perditus was named by Samuels and Korth (2017). Its type specimen is UCMP 170698, a mandible (right dentary with m1 to m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP V92002, Lost Creek, which is in a Chadronian terrestrial claystone in the John Day Formation of Oregon. It is the type species of Proischyromys.
