Libysiren sickenbergi
Taxonomy
Libysiren sickenbergi was named by Domning et al. (2017) [Libysiren sickenbergi “Heal, 1973”: Zalmout and Gingerich, 2012:7. (Nomen nudum.)]. Its type specimen is NHMUK M45675a–g, a partial skeleton (cranium, mandible, atlas, anterior thoracic vertebra, and three rib fragments), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bu el Haderait, which is in a Lutetian carbonate limestone in the Wadi Thamit Formation of Libya. It is the type species of Libysiren.
