Prionolepis is a genus. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Prionolepididae.
It was assigned to Enchodontidae by Woodward (1901) and Woodward (1902); to Prionolepididae by Goody (1969); and to Alepisauriformes by Sepkoski (2002).
