Conicholcorpa stigmosa was named by Li et al. (2017). Its type specimen is CNU-NN-MEC-2015023, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (CNU 2015 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China. It is the type species of Conicholcorpa.
