Taxonomy
Gymnites ecki was named by von Mojsisovics (1882). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Between Monte Clapsavon and Forni di Sotto, which is in a Ladinian carbonate limestone in Italy.

It was recombined as Epigymnites ecki by Spath (1951), Fantini Sestini (1994), Fantini Sestini (1996), Vörös (2018).
