Exallaspis bruntoni was named by Chatterton and Ludvigsen (2004). Its type specimen is GSC 122264, a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AN66, which is in a Telychian open shallow subtidal lime mudstone/shale in the Jupiter Formation of Canada.
