Mangystania humilicristata

Taxonomy
Mangystania humilicristata was named by Zvonok et al. (2016). Its type specimen is PIN 2612/2, a limb element (proximal fragment of the left humerus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kuyulus, which is in a Bartonian coastal horizon in the Shorym Formation of Kazakhstan. It is the type species of Mangystania.

Zvonok et al. 2016The new taxon can be distinguished by the following characters: (1) crista deltopectoralis low and short; (2) crista delto- pectoralis abruptly ending distally (not smoothly continuous with shaft), i.e., apex of crest strongly shifted distally; (3) proximal part of dorsal surface of crista deltopectoralis pneumatized; (4) tuberculum dorsale facing proximodorsally; (5) proximocaudal margin of fossa pneumotricipitalis forms acute angle; (6) proximal part of intumes- centia humeri forms well-developed shelf overhanging sulcus trans- versus; (7) scar of m. latissimus dorsi positioned close to both tuberculum dorsale and dorsal margin of crista deltopectoralis; and (8) crista bicipitalis pneumatized.
