Podocnemis pritchardi

Named in honor of my esteemed friend and colleague, Peter C. H. Pritchard, in recognition of his numerous contributions to knowledge of the world's turtles.
Taxonomy
Podocnemis pritchardi was named by Wood (1997). Its type specimen is UCMP 63782, a partial shell (A neraly complete and well-preserved shell, lacking only a small portion of the posterior margin of the caparace), and it is a 3D body fossil.

Wood 1997 | Differs from all other South American pelomedusids referred to Podocnemis in having very narrow, almost rectangular, laterally placed mesoplastra; outer surfaces of the bridges curving downward and outward, extreme dorsoventral flattening of the shell; only six rather than seven neural bones; ischial scar on xiphiplastron very narrow along its entire length and situated directly adjacent to anal notch.
