Taxonomy
Lichas (Arges) wesenbergensis paulianus was named by Clarke (1894). Its type specimen is USNM 42436a [lectotype selected by Rudkin et al 1994], a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Hemiarges paulianus by Foerste (1920) and Rudkin et al. (1994).

Synonyms
  • Hemiarges bartoni was named by Raymond (1925). Its type specimen is MCZ 1755, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Hemiarges paulianus by Rudkin et al. (1994).
  • Hemiarges aeolus was named by Sinclair (1944). Its type specimen is GSC 13276, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Hemiarges paulianus by Rudkin et al. (1994).
