Bathyurellus inflatus was named by Loch (2007) [Paratypes: UMC 16816-9, 16821]. Its type specimen is UMC 16820, a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Harlandaspis inflata by Fortey and Bruton (2013).
