Taxonomy
Balaena forsythmajori was named by Pilleri (1987). Its type specimen is IGF 1624 V, an other (Periotic), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pieve Santa Luce, which is in a Piacenzian coastal mudstone in Italy.
It was recombined as Balaenula forsythmajori by Dominici et al. (2018).
