Megalaspis stenorachis was named by Angelin (1851). It is the type species of Promegalaspides (Borogothus).
It was recombined as Promegalaspides (Borogothus) stenorhachis by Tjernvik (1956); it was recombined as Promegalaspides (Borogothus) stenorachis by Hoel (1999).
