Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
T. R. Lyson et al. 2017Lutemys warreni can be diagnosed as a member of Chelydroidea (i.e., the clade consisting of Kinosternoidea and Chelydridae) based on the presence of a reduced cruciform plastron, true costiform processes (sensu Joyce, 2007) that cross peripheral I and terminate in peripheral II or III on the visceral shell surface, absence of extragulars, absence of pectorals, absence of a midline contact between the abdominals, and less than four inframarginals, and as a representative of Pan-Kinosternoidea based on the presence of an iliac notch in the acetabulum and a strap-like ilial shaft that is angled posteriorly and adorned by an incipient thelial process.
