Taxonomy
Atopocrinus was named by Clark (1912) [Homonym for disparid crinoid genus Atopocrinus Lane 1970]. It is extant. Its type is Atopocrinus sibogae.

It was assigned to Atelecrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Atopocrinidae by Hess and Messing (2011).
