Taxonomy
Metapterodon markgrafi was named by Holroyd (1999). It is not extant. Its type specimen is AMNH 14452, a maxilla (left maxilla containing alveoli forC-Pl, roots of P2-P3, partial P4, Ml, and partial M2).

It was recombined as Sectisodon markgrafi by Morales and Pickford (2017).
