Echmatemys arethusa
Taxonomy
Echmatemys arethusa was named by Hay (1908). Its type specimen is AMNH 5920 (holotype), a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grizzly Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.

Echmatemys arethusa differs from other Echmatemys based on the following combination of characters: hexagonal neurals with short antero-lateral sides, lack of contact between vertebral I and marginal II, lack of overlap of pleural I onto the nuchal, and entoplastron covered both by the gulars and pectorals. |
