Cythereis jacksonensis was named by Howe and Chambers (1935) [author: Howe and Pyeatt As Cythereis ? jacksonensis]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Creole bluff on the red river at Montgomery, which is in an Eocene marginal marine horizon in Louisiana.
