It was assigned to Oceanitidae by Olson (1975), Olson and James (1982) and Carroll (1988); to Procellariiformes by Howard (1978), Olson (1985), Chandler (1990) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Hydrobatidae by Wetmore (1956) and Clements et al. (2017).
